On 7 July at about 8.55am a Kagiso woman was raped while she was preparing to take a bath.
It is alleged that on 28 June at about 4pm the complainant went to a local shebeen and drank alcohol until the next morning. Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya says that she went home and while she was preparing a bath a man known to her pushed open the door.
“The complainant noticed that it was the man that she was with at a tavern. There was a struggle between the two and the suspect strangled the complainant as she fought back.”
Sibiya says that the suspect hit her on the head with an unknown object and later raped her. “The complainant sustained open wounds to the head. The matter was reported to the police after which the suspect was traced and apprehended at the Soul City informal settlement.”
A case docket of rape was opened at the Kagiso Police Station and the suspect appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
