Why is Noordheuwel singled out for water disruptions?
"Someone is not telling us what is going on."

Fuming Noordheuwel residents are losing their patience with the local council after the umpteenth water disruption.
It came to the NEWS’ attention that water disruptions have been ongoing in this suburb since the beginning of September after a pipe had burst as a result of poorly maintained infrastructure.
At the time shocked and angry residents from across Krugersdorp were informed that the disruptions would be ongoing until the end of September, but for Noordheuwel residents it has continued into middle October and no one is giving any information as to why this is happening.
“Someone is not telling us what is going on,” said councillor of the ward Lynn Pannall after the NEWS approached her in September.
“All I have been told is that they are investigating as to why some parts of Noordheuwel do not have any water, while the rest of the town’s flow seems to be back to normal.”
According to the reliable source who alerted the NEWS to the problem, Rand Water was the culprit.
The source says that they are not supplying any water to Noordheuwel at the moment, but according the Rand Water’s media liaison, the situation is under control.
“Residents are furious and hostile since only a few are getting water,” says Pannall.
Other rumours surfaced that the reservoirs are not filling up fast enough since residents are using too much water.
Phone calls to the local council also seem to be pointless since no calls are answered and if they are, promises are made by random clerks without any authority.
One angry resident allegedly is starting a petition about municipal taxes.
“This has to end. We should not pay our taxes anymore because clearly they are not doing their jobs.”
The NEWS has not requested comment from the Mogale City Local Municipality since our cries also are falling on deaf ears.
The situation remains under investigation and the NEWS welcomes any useful information.
