Municipality releases statement about ongoing water disruptions

Work that will be undertaken will ensure the reduction of water losses.

Consumers in the Kenmare and Noordheuwel areas hereby are advised of the planned maintenance programme (the resealing of the 15ML Kenmare Water Reservoir) scheduled to commence on Wednesday 16 October from 8am and to last until 31 October.

During this maintenance programme, water will continue to be provided although pressure might be low in some areas. The Municipality urges residents to use water sparingly during this time and exercise some control especially those who may want to use sprinklers and swimming pools. Irrigation and topping up of swimming pools from 4am until 8pm will not be helpful because it will put extra pressure on the system during the maintenance period.

As a proactive measure and on a 24/7 basis, the municipality will place water tankers in areas where there might be major water supply shortages due to the low pressure. The water tankers will be filled continuously according to the needs of each area.

Positions of water tanks in the event of water supply problems during the maintenance period:

1. Noordheuwel (Pick n Pay) 2 x 5 000 litres

2. Kenmare reservoir (Shannon Road) 1 x 5 000 litres

3. Noordheuwel (Checkers) 1 x 5 000 litres

4. Panorama Estate 1 x 5 000 litres

5. Rangeview Reservoir 1 x 10 000 litres

6. Robert Broom Drive (Sasol Service Station) 1 x 10 000 litres

7. Rant-en-Dal (Spar) 1 x 10 000 litres

8. Chancliff, Clifford Road 1 x 5 000 litres

9. Ruimsig Country Estate 1 x 10 000 litres

10. Featherbrooke Estate 1 x 10 000 litres

The municipality wishes to emphasise to the consumers in affected areas that the work that will be undertaken will ensure the reduction of water losses and will result in guaranteed supply of water to the areas.

Residents are advised to direct their queries to their call centre on 086 166 4253 during office hours and 011 951 3000 after hours, or to send an email to water@mogalecity.gov.za. Each area has its peculiarities, therefore they request that residents supply their full addresses when logging queries.

“We regret all inconvenience that will be caused by this necessary intervention,” reads the statement issued by Mogale City Local Municipality.
