Suspect arrested for stoning man to death

A man (32) have been arrested by police for allegedly killing a man and wounding another one three days after the incident.

The Kagiso Police Station managed to arrest a 32-year-old suspect following the killing of a 28-year-old man and attempted murder of the man’s accomplice on Saturday 12 October.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, a police spokesperson says the suspect, who was arrested on 15 October, three days after the incident, allegedly stabbed and stoned Major Lekhanya to death while the man’s accomplice (24) sustained multiple stab wounds to the head and upper body.

“The police received a complaint from a concerned resident of Soul City Informal Settlement. Upon arrival they found two men on the ground and bleeding profusely.”

The 28-year-old was declared dead on the scene while the other man was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Sibiya says the suspect appeared briefly in Kagiso Magistrates’ Court facing charges of attempted murder and they hope to make more arrests soon.
