Update: Twins found in bucket – one dead

Two babies were found in a bucket left for dead.

Police made a horrific discovery while on patrol in Nooitgedacht on Saturday, 19 October.

Next to a tree in a 20L bucket covered in a plastic bag, two baby boys were found, one declared dead on arrival and the other fighting for his life.

The story of the set of twins made national headlines after paramedics were able to save the one.

The surviving baby was dubbed Baby Lucky by emergency personnel who attended to the scene.

The boy was transported to Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital and is now in a perfect state of health.

The police is currently looking for the mother of the twins.

Babies found in veld in Muldersdrift

Mainstream media reports on Saturday, 19 October, indicated that a pair of alleged twins were found abandoned in a veld in Muldersdrift.

Netcare 911 paramedics were called to the scene where two babies were found in a bucket, one of which was dead on arrival.

According to Netcare spokesperson Santi Steinman the surviving baby was stabilised and rushed to hospital.

Police stated that an inquest docket was opened.

No arrests were made by Saturday.
