VIDEO: A glimpse of baby Lucky
The story of a infant found dumped in a bucket at the side of the road.
He was snug in his hospital crib and even smiled when the NEWS reporters visited the baby boy who was found in a bucket in Nooitgedacht, Muldersdrift.
Reporters were swept up in the emotion surrounding the infant who had to endure so much cruelty in the first days of his life after being dumped in a 20 litre bucket with his twin brother who sadly did not survive.
He was dubbed Lucky by the paramedics who brought him to the Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital where he was stabilised before he was taken to the Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital.
Seeing him in his crib surrounded by hospital staff who care for him, some calling him a handsome boy, his tiny hands and feet in clothing and a blanket provided by the government hospital looked almost surreal.
Having been failed even before his life could start one wonders about his future.
Will his mother be prosecuted or even traced by police? Who will speak up for his twin brother whose voice is now silent?
The NEWS recorded their visit to Lucky to give readers a glimpse of the surreal atmosphere surrounding new life; the life of another unwanted child in South Africa.
