The DA has raised the recurring Krugersdorp water cuts in Parliament, bringing it directly to the attention of the cabinet, but the Minister of Water Affairs, Edna Molewa chose to ignore the crisis.
“First I wrote letters to both the Minister of Water Affairs and the Minister of Local Government, for their urgent attention to help solve the water crisis in Krugersdorp. While they acknowledged receipt of my correspondence, no substantial reply has been received.
“Then, on my request, the DA Shadow Minister of Water Affairs, Marti Wenger MP made a member statement on the water crisis, while the Minister of Water Affairs, Edna Molewa was present in the House. However, the Minister chose not to respond to the DA’s statement, thereby indicating how far she is removed from the needs of voters,” says Anchen Dreyer LP of DA Mogale City.
“She clearly has little empathy for the plight of residents who actually pay her salary, in addition to sponsoring her accommodation in two ministerial homes and her two official vehicles.”
Dreyer says that it is because of such insulting behaviour that voters increasingly are turning to the DA and are supporting Mmusi Maimane for premier, who will ensure there is running water in taps.
