ER24 Emergency response unit calls on possible witnesses in the Krugersdorp area to come forth after one of their ambulances were involved in a smash and grab robbery at a local hospital recently.
According to ER 24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson the window of an ambulance was smashed outside the hospital while medical personal was busy handing over a patient at casualty.
“A cell phone and GPS was stolen from the vehicle,” says Jackson.
A second ER 24 vehicle was vandalised shortly after in Potchefstroom when emergency lights were stolen from its roof.
“The wires to the light were cut off and the brackets used to fit the lights were removed,” says Jackson.
Jackson explains that the response team does not only suffer a financial loss when such crimes occur but that vehicles used for medical emergencies won’t be able to operate.
Anyone with information linked to the crimes are asked to contact their local police station.
