The lack of communication by Mogale City Local Municipality regarding the water disruptions in Noordheuwel is leaving residents with ‘water rage’.
The NEWS made countless telephone calls, sent numerous emails and made repeated visits to the Kenmare Reservoir trying to get information pertaining to the disruptions, however no new information has been forthcoming.
Everyone, including the NEWS, is at their wits’ end with this on-going problem.
An urgent request for comment about why Noordheuwel’s water problem is persisting was sent to the municipal spokesperson Nkosana Zali.
When the NEWS approached Zali by telephone he requested that our questions be sent to him in writing because he was on his way to a meeting. He also stated that he did not know of any water problems in Noordheuwel.
The NEWS managed to obtain information from a valuable and extremely reliable source who confirms that the disruptions are still on-going.
“All I can say is that the project is not complete, and that the reservoir needs to be resealed and the water flow bypass needs to be redirected. This should last until next Friday [15 November],” says the source who wishes to remain anonymous because allegedly the information is not supposed to be public knowledge.
However, the questions remain: how far has the municipality pushed the residents of Noordheuwel, and how will they respond or even retaliate?
Your comments on the matter are welcomed.
