ATM bombing goes wrong

Police are on the lookout for four ATM bombers operating in the Munsieville area.

Four alleged ATM bombers are currently at large following a failed attempt to bomb an ATM in Munsieville informal settlement on Friday 1 November.

According to Krugersdorp SAPS spokesperson Constable Tshepiso Mashale the suspects had fled by the time police arrived on scene.

“They escaped in a white Volkswagen Caddy,” she says.

According to Mashale no money was stolen as the suspects were unable to open the safe.

“The explosives only blasted a hole into the wall next to the safe, and the safe itself was unopened by the time police arrived on scene,” she says.

The case is being investigated by the SAPS Provincial Head Office and anyone with information pertaining to the incident is urged to contact investigating officer Sergeant Marakalala on 082 782 4319.
