A stolen vehicle allegedly used to commit a house robbery earlier this month in Kagiso was recovered along with a second stolen vehicle on 19 November.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, a police spokesperson says officers from the Kagiso Police Station were patrolling the area of Kagiso Extension 11 when they received a tip-off about a suspicious-looking vehicle similar to the one that was used to commit the robbery, that was parked at a certain address.

“This complainant was robbed of cash, two cellphones and a grey Volkswagen Golf by three armed men at his home.”

Sibiya says the police went to the address and found the suspect and two vehicles, a silver Mercedes-Benz with registration number NJL 832 GP and a silver Toyota Avanza with two different registration numbers.

“The police found that the engine tag of the Toyota Avanza had been tampered with and the suspect failed to explain or produce official documents of the two cars.”

He then was arrested and the vehicles were confiscated.

“The suspect was detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case docket for the possession of suspected stolen vehicles used in the commission of a crime was opened.”

He appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
