VIDEO: Burglar strolls through secure multimillion rand estate home

CCTV footage shows a burglar helping himself to property in a multimillion rand estate home.

The NEWS recently was provided with CCTV footage of a burglar helping himself to electronic equipment in the multimillion rand estate in Kromdraai labelled by promotional material as one of the most sought-after estates in Johannesburg.

Properties within the estate are advertised at a going rate of R980 000 and residents’ safety is assured with promising phrases such as “fully fenced with electrified fencing” and “access controlled by security guards 24 hours a day”.

Yet the burglar captured in the footage seems not to have had a hard time gaining access to the estate on the night of 25 October and spends several minutes in the targeted home.

According to Krugersdorp SAPS spokesperson Tshepiso Mashale the case was reported and there are indications that the burglar was accompanied by two other men.

“It is alleged that the men gained access to the house by breaking a glass door,” she says.

Property stolen include a TV and PlayStation console.

Anyone who might recognise the man in the footage or who might have any information pertaining to the case is urged to contact investigating officer Warrant Officer Drotsky on 084 207 4539 or 011 951 1111.
