Arrested three years after burglary

About R2 400 worth of liquor was stolen from a pub by a then 19-year-old man.

A suspected burglar was sound asleep when police descended on his home and arrested him for a business burglary he allegedly committed three years ago.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, a police spokesperson says the 22-year-old suspect who was in hiding was arrested on 21 November at about 4.25am after they received a tip-off about his whereabouts.

The robbery at a pub in Central Kagiso in October 2010 saw the burglar getting away with about R2 400 worth of liquor.

Sibiya says the owner was informed about the burglary at about 6am that morning.

“The burglar gained entry through the roof and since the incident Kagiso Police have been searching for the burglar,” says Sibiya.

The suspect has been in police custody and was charged with business burglary. He appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court on 25 November.
