A man was robbed of R78 000 in cash and his car outside a bank in the Krugersdorp CBD on Tuesday 26 November.
According to Krugersdorp SAPS spokesperson Tshepiso Mashale the victim was about to stop in the parking area of a bank in Commissioner Street when a silver Toyota sedan pulled in next to him.
“Three armed men jumped out of the vehicle, robbed him of the cash he was about the deposit and then drove off with his car,” she says.
The vehicle was however recovered the same day by sector police officials who found it abandoned by the side of the road.
“There was no trace of the suspects or the money,” she says.
The case is currently being investigated by the Vehicle Identification Unit (VISS) in Lenasia and anyone with more information is urged to contact their office on 011 231 9000.
Krugersdorp police urge residents to not travel with or draw large amounts of cash if possible.
