Most parts of Krugersdorp were affected severely by flooding following heavy rain on 30 and 31 January.

The NEWS was bombarded with reports of accidents, damage to infrastructure and water gushing through the streets.

Pupils allegedly were sent home after classrooms and corridors were flooded and walls caved in at Hoërskool Monument.

It is understood that the Monument Dam at Key West Shopping Centre has reached its capacity and is overflowing.

Residents took to social media sharing the following on twitter:

@HAMNET_SARL1h tweeted: All systems warning. Reports of flooding coming in from all over – Krugersdorp to central Joburg. More rain on its way – be warned!

@PigSpotter45m: Flooding on Robert Broom just before The Watch Towers, heading towards Krugersdorp. DO NOT cross.

@JanvR1123m: Hoërskool Monument gesluit, kinders huis toe gestuur, weens groot waterskade.
