Krugersdorp victorious at top achievers awards
Krugersdorp schools took home most of the awards.
Krugersdorp proved to have some of the best performing schools in the district at an awards ceremony hosted by the Gauteng Department of Education.
The ceremony, held on Wednesday 29 January at the Krugersdorp Centenary Hall, recognised the top achieving matrics of 2013 in the Gauteng West District (D2) and not only was attended by star pupils but key community leaders of Mogale City as well.
Mogale City Mayor Councillor Koketso Calvin Seerane was among the VIP guest speakers who congratulated the top achievers and thanked them for their efforts throughout the academic year.
District officials Benedict Moeng and Winnie Monnakgotla served as programme directors and handed over certificates and trophies to the top performing pupils and schools in the district.
Hoërskool Noordheuwel made Krugersdorp proud after coming out on top as the best achieving school in the district.

Rural schools
• Hoërskool Bekker: 69
• Schaumburg Combined School: 17
• Ithteng Secondary school: 16
Thuto Pele High School took the award for the best performing township school with a 98,73 pass rate. Schaumburg Combined School was recognised as the most improved rural school with a 97,73 average.
Individual pupils also were awarded for their achievements in specific subjects and received certificates and trophies.
