The NEWS have noticed that two sets of traffic lights on two busy roads in Krugersdorp have been neglected from maintenance repairs since last year.
During a video taken by the NEWS journalist it is clear that motorists are confused
The traffic lights at the intersection of Albertina Sisulu (R24) and Impala Road in Mindalore are confusing motorists, especially those driving on Albertina Sisulu Road to and from Krugersdorp.
It is difficult to see whether the traffic light is out of order and if one should treat it as a four way stop. It is only when one gets closer to the traffic light that a person is able to see that the lower traffic lights on each side on Albertina Sisulu Road is green.
The top green traffic lights are out of order but the rest of the traffic lights’ light-emitting diode (LED) lights are working.
During a video taken by the NEWS journalist it is clear that motorists are confused as a motorist driving a Volkswagen Golf slacks down and a driver in a Ford Figo stopped when approaching this traffic light going to Roodepoort.

Also at the intersection of Adcock Street and Randfontein Road (R41), the main road for West Rand residents travelling to Randfontein, Roodepoort and to Leratong Hospital in Krugersdorp has been out of order since November last year.
Mpho Jitha and Malekazi Jizana from the Luta Taxi Association who pick up and drop off passengers near this intersection says that the intersection is problematic especially in the mornings and afternoons.
“In the morning there are traffic officers directing the traffic, but not in the afternoon,” says Jitha.
He says that some drivers get impatient and it is an accident waiting to happen.
“Pedestrians’ lives are also in danger, especially during the peak hours when vehicles are coming from all directions.”
