Top-notch education with a dash of exclusivity

The Maragon School being built in Muldersdrift offers much more than education.

With peace of mind you wave goodbye to your children as they get onto their bicycles or even walk to school – not only about their safety but the quality of education they will receive when they get there.

The scenario seems almost surreal but Maragon Schools’ newest addition, Maragon Avianto, offers just that.

For a number of distinct reasons Maragon’s team of educational experts handpicked Avianto Lifestyle Estate, the largest development being undertaken in the Muldersdrift area since the R480 million refurbishment at Silverstar Casino and the construction of Cradlestone Mall, as the ideal location for their new school.

“The area’s natural surroundings and tranquillity make it extremely conducive to learning and teaching,” explains Maragon CEO Gideon van Niekerk. “The school is being built on the Avianto Lifestyle Estate, a secure suburb where children are safe to ride their bicycles or walk to school.

“As far as aesthetics go the school will be one of the country’s most beautiful architectural pieces,” he adds.

Trevor D’Oliviera, CEO of Avianto Estate elaborates by explaining that the school and estate will complement the architecture of the Avianto Hotel, Function and Wedding Venue with its European influences.

Natural materials such as stone, true-colour plaster and flush-plastered clay brick in the same colours, as well as timber in dark and neutral tones are being used. Screening in the estate will be achieved with plants and other elements such as lattice fencing, forged-metal panels, trellises, low walls, hedges, shrubs and trees.

The look is the only vintage element to the school says Van Niekerk, mentioning the cutting-edge technology and educational methods that will be implemented at the school.

Jopie Maasdam, Maragon COO explains that the curricula will be the same as those of the other Maragon schools, with first-language education in both English and Afrikaans from pre-primary school up to Grade 12.

“Our high standard of teaching will be implemented at Avianto, but pupils will be fortunate enough to play and learn in a setting that will boost the process.

“Small details such as the large open spaces and great lighting are just some of the elements that create the ideal learning environment,” he says.

The pre-school, which is the first of the school’s four phases is currently at the final stages of construction and is scheduled to open in 2015, while organic growth will take the school to its total capacity of 1 500 pupils.

D’Oliviera says that being designed to offer residents the peacefulness of indigenous forests and parklands, Avianto Estate incorporates picnic areas on the banks of the Crocodile River.

He says walking, jogging and mountain biking trails are available to enjoy, as are the Avianto Sports Club and its public amenities, which include a soccer field, an action golf course, tennis courts, swimming pools and a clubhouse.

He says Avianto Estate is well-positioned in an area that is developing into a strong residential and commercial node and offers a live-work-play concept.
