Weather contributes to night run success

The annual KHS Night Run was initiated 14 years ago, but this year the routes were slightly different to those of the previous years.

The annual Krugersdorp High School’s Night Run again was a run-away success with more than 800 runners participating.

This run, which was initiated by Beatie Moorcroft 14 years ago, was slightly more interesting this year when the five and 10 km routes were changed to the Khosa Running Club’s route, which requires more uphill running.

Michelle Coetzee, who assisted in organising the event says that the weather conditions were a bonus.

“It was not too cold and that might have contributed to the success. People had tons of fun.”

She says that the pupils came dressed in costumes and that made for more excitement.

“Each year the school’s prefects choose the theme according to which the various grades will dress up.”

Pupils came dressed as babies, monsters, super heroes, nerds and hippies.

Ainsley Larsen and Collan Rex, who dressed as devil monsters, say that they enjoy the Night Run because it is something to get excited about.

“It allows us to plan what we want to wear.”

Michaella Kossman and Brittany Abdinor, also dressed as monsters, say that they too enjoy it because it is a great social event.

Michelle says that they received a lot of positive feedback after the event and thanks the community as it would not have been that successful without their support.
