Men and women in blue spend time with children

Police officers treated needy children during the launch of Child Protection Week.

Officers from all police stations in the Krugersdorp cluster gathered at the Rekopane Inclusive Centre on Monday 26 May to launch national Child Protection Week.

Men and women in blue from as far as Magaliesburg, Hekpoort, Randfontein, Tarlton, Kagiso, Muldersdrift as well as Krugersdorp Police Station launched the campaign locally by handing over some necessities to the centre.

The centre that offers services such as adoptions, child development, foster care, infant care and specialised care for the disabled received items such as food, blankets, heaters and toiletries that the police officers had collected.

Krugersdorp Police spokesperson Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale who was master of ceremonies at the event informed attendees about children’s rights and abuse.

Informative flyers were handed out as a guide for parents on how to discipline children and how to refrain from abusive behaviour.

Mashale emphasised that all adults have the responsibility to safeguard children.
