VIDEO: Bubbly and bright Bianca wins Apprentesse
Rant-en-Dal's Bianca Bester recently was crowned the new Apprentesse.
Bianca Bester (23) is living the dream, all because she took a chance.
She recently won a competition that will be opening doors for her long after she already has established herself in the fashion industry.
Out of 350 entries Bester was announced the winner of SA’s first Apprentesse of Angelique Gerber (7de Laan’s Clara and presenter of Boer soek ‘n Vrou) at a star-studded event in Pretoria. Being the winner of the Apprentesses, Bester has been given the platform to further her career in the industry she’s always dreamed of.
She will open fashion shows, be the face of Angelique Gerber Designs and the first face at her own promotional events, and be invited to events, movie premieres and cocktail evenings.

“This was the first competition I ever entered. I’ve never been the pageant kind. I’m just an Afrikaans girl who enjoys going to rugby games (especially when the Sharks are playing), having fun, braaiing and going on holidays with my family to Hartenbos.
“However, I believe a little part of me always wanted to do exactly what this platform has to offer,” says Bester.
Bester says she always has been passionate about young women and children and will work hard to enrich as many lives as she can with the one thing her dad always taught her: believe in yourself no matter what and see your uniqueness as your greatest strength.
After moving with her family to Pietermaritzburg from Durban (where she was born) she matriculated from Voortrekker High School. As a school girl she loved playing basketball, dancing and obtained provincial colours in netball (which she still enjoys playing).
“My family really is my everything. Growing up, my younger brother and I were best friends and always played together. The big family bed on Christmas was an annual tradition and MasterChef cook-offs in the kitchen are still a hit. Our house always is filled with love, laughter and support,” she says.
“As the new Apprentesse I find it essential to build relationships with sponsors, to remain true to who I am, to have my own goals, be the face of Angelique Gerber’s Designs with pride and elegance, make a difference in the lives of others and just take it all in and treasure these memories to share with my children one day,” concludes Bester.
