A jolly celebration at school for disabled

Pupils go all out to celebrate this special day on the school calender.

It’s not just an excuse to dress up silly or go to gym in your pyjamas. This is one day on which all South Africans can raise funds and awareness for persons with disabilites.

Casual Day always is celebrated in full flair in Krugersdorp, being home to one of the finest and most recognised schools for pupils with disabilities in the country – the West Rand School.

Friday 5 September was no different as pupils arrived at school all dressed up and ready for the party that goes with Casual Day at the school each year.

The theme of this year’s Casual Day being the 20th one, was Bring out the Bling.

Pupils went all out and took the theme as a challenge by dressing up in gold and silver and adding some shiny accessories.

The school, its staff and pupils are dear to the community and business owners who each year cover the costs of the party.

Sponsors this year included Anthos Centre management, Paardekraal Post Office, SE Steel, Dirk Booysen, Sportcon and Anina Cherry among others.

One of the highlights of the day was a dance item by the school’s wheelchair dancers; an event that made jaws drop.

The school management team thanks everybody for their contribution toward this special day on the school calendar, saying that thanks to the community they are “too blessed to be stressed”.
