Muldersdrift set to rock this September

Excitement is in the air as two big concerts are to be held in Muldersdrift a week apart.

Muldersdrift is abuzz with anticipation as the annual 947 Joburg Day with MTN and Peace Starts 2014 events draw nearer.

This is the 14th anniversary of 947 Joburg Day and the second one to be held at The Crocodile Creek Polo Club in Muldersdrift.

All tickets have been sold, amounting to 30 000 people expected at the event on 13 September.

“It’s brilliant hosting this event in our area and it is a great opportunity for visitors to get a feel for Muldersdrift and all it has to offer,” says spokesperson for the Muldersdrift Communication Action Group (MCAG) Gaby Burgmer.

The local music-only concert will see 15 acts take the stage including Mafikizolo, Prime Circle, Jeremy Loops, Goldfish, and more.

Ebrahim Jooma, brand activation manager for Primedia says The Crocodile Creek Polo Club is an ideal venue to host a full-day music festival like 947 Joburg Day.

“There is ample space to accommodate 30 000 people and still allows our guests enough room to picnic and relax with their friends and family. Logistically, it also makes sense as there is plenty of parking and the venue isn’t in a dense residential area. Residents are always a key concern when we plan a music event.”

Just a week later leading South African bands, artists and celebrities once again will head to Muldersdrift for the Peace Starts 2014 concert at Heia Safari Ranch.

“It’s a free music concert featuring some of SA’s top acts, representing the crossover culture we are experiencing in South Africa, whilst promoting The International Day of Peace,” says Burgmer.

Ross Learmonth and Neil Breytenbach (Prime Circle), Slikour and Shugasmakx, The Graeme Watkins Project, Cito and Martin Schofield (Wonderboom) to name a few, will be performing in a style most audiences haven’t seen before. They will perform their tracks in an acoustic or singer/songwriter style. SA’s finest classical musicians who make up the Double O Ensemble will be collaborating with some of the artists too.

“Muldersdrift is going to be rocking this September so why not get into the vibe and spend a weekend at one of our many great accommodation options. We have a spot for everyone – whether you are looking for a budget option or wanting to indulge for the weekend. Along with that we have an array of fun activities to get you out into the sunshine, restaurants galore to tickle your taste buds and laid-back spas if you fancy just putting up your feet for a pamper. We look forward to seeing you soon,” concludes Burgmer.
