Mogale City’s youth co-ordinator failing Munsieville’s youth

A local DA councillor feels that the coordinator should be called to order.

The Mogale City Local Municipality youth coordinator is failing the youth of the city and is not taking his job seriously.

This according to Lawrence Shabalala who is the DA PR Councillor for Munsieville.

Shabalala feels that the coordinator should be called to order or be removed and be replaced by someone who will take this job and the youth of the city seriously.

“Since the beginning of this year the coordinator has not attended any of the Section 80 portfolio meetings on Health and Social Upliftment. He also has not handed in any report to the portfolio committee, making it hard for us as councillors to do our oversight duties and be made aware of programmes that his office is running,” says Shabalala.

The Health and Social Upliftment Portfolio through MMC Emily Mathe has tried numerous times to report the matter and ensure that the youth coordinator attends meetings and hands over reports but he still is avoiding the meetings.

“On 19 August we had another meeting that he did not attend but he tendered an apology for his absence.

“The youth of Mogale City is being undermined and the coordinator should be replaced by someone who really wants to work for the youth. It is even worse when considering that Munsieville has three wards and none of them has a functional youth forum structure, yet the youth coordinator does not seem to be bothered by this.”
