Jordan the next Schumacher

Local youngster races his way to the top.

At only eight years of age Rant-en-Dal resident Jordan Brooks’ favorite place is behind the steering wheel of his car.

Coming from a family of racing fanatics, Jordan took up go-kart racing on his sixth birthday and has been collecting trophies since. Although he already has collected 38 trophies, the biggest win of his young career came late last month when he stepped onto the podium to claim runner-up at the 2014 South African go-karting Championships.

To win the title in the cadet age category Jordan competed in Port Elizabeth were he placed second, in Cape Town fifth, Durban first and Vereeniging fifth respectively.

Overall he was then rewarded the runner-up title internationally. “Motor racing depends a lot on mechanics and the engine failed me a couple of times, but in the end I pulled through,” he says.

With his father as his engineer and one-man cockpit team at each race, Jordan says he owes a lot of his victories to his dad who is his role model in racing.
