Load shedding is an Eskom-driven process and is therefore not implemented by Mogale City Local Municipality, reads a statement on the municipality’s website.
It further states that the municipality has only one feeder from Eskom, which is why it is not possible for them to switch off certain areas at certain times.
“If Eskom switches off one area, the whole of Mogale City will be without power. Eskom, and not the municipality, announces load shedding depending on supply versus demand – it is therefore difficult for the municipality to predict any load shedding and we only can provide information which is available to us.”
The municipally urges all residents to assist in reducing the demand for electricity by turning off all non-essential equipment and appliances at all times.
