Children flung from vehicle after side impact

An eyewitness on the scene alleged that the driver of the Condor was drunk at the time of the accident.

Four children were injured critically after being flung from the vehicle they were travelling in when it collided with another vehicle.

The accident occurred late last night, 5 January on Voortrekker Road.

Netcare 911 paramedics found that a Toyota Condor had overturned on impact. After triaging, medics found the critically injured children together with three adults – two females and one male – who had sustained serious injuries.

Paramedics worked fervently to stabilise the victims at the scene. The seven-year-old girl was placed on a ventilator and then airlifted to hospital on board the Netcare One medical helicopter. After paramedics stabilised the other patients at the scene they transported them to various hospitals for the medical intervention they required.

An eyewitness on the scene alleged that the driver of the Condor was drunk at the time of the accident.

The exact cause of the accident will form part of a police investigation.
