25-hour water outage next week

The 25-hour planned water outage, which was scheduled for this week will be next week. See here which areas will be affected mostly.

Mogale City residents and visitors to the area will experience low water pressure next week on 2 and 3 February.

This is due to maintenance at its Eikenhof Pump Station. The maintenance was expected to take place this week, but was postponed, Rand Water said.

Work will be done on three of the main water pipelines, with only one pipeline operational during the shutdown, which could last up to 25 hours.

According to a Rand Water statement the bulk-water utility will ensure that all Krugersdorp reservoirs are filled to capacity before the planned shutdown.

All areas of the city will be affected by the shutdown, but those that will be affected severely are Rietfontein, Muldersdrift, Mindalore, Nooitgedacht and Driefontein.

The statement reads that residents will notice a drop in water pressure and some areas will see a total loss of water. Water tankers will be supplied to areas that might be affected after the scheduled time.

“We appeal to the residents to use water sparingly during the shutdown, for instance not watering their gardens and filling their swimming pools,” the municipality said.

“We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that will be caused. Residents should contact the Emergency Line 107 (from a land line only) or 011 951 3000 for any queries during the shutdown.”
