Reshuffling of Mayoral Committee

Executive Mayor Counsillor Koketso Seerane will make changes in portfolios of eight members of the committee.

The Executive Mayor Councillor Koketso Calvin Seerane will reshuffle the mayoral committee.

Nkosana Zali, Mogale City spokesperson said that following an intense and frank assessment of the performance of the members of the mayoral committee and consultation with relevant stakeholders, changes will be made.

“The Mayor will exercise section 60 of the Municipal Structures Act, 1998 in respect of the powers and responsibilities delegated to the mayoral committee.

“These are seasoned councillors who have the privilege to leave an indelible mark in the city as we wind down this political term. They have brought immense political stability, helped us achieve two successive unqualified opinions and topped it up with a clean audit in the last financial year. These changes take into account the different skill sets and the inclination displayed by each mayoral committee member, and we have done this to ensure that they bring to bear their skills to these portfolios. Our people will be the richer for their patience and better served by this team of leaders. We wish them all the best in their new roles,” he said.

The changes will affect eight of the 10 members of the committee and are as follows:

• Councillor Maxwell Khuzwayo will move from Infrastructure to Local Economic Development

• Councillor Noluthando Mangole will move from Corporate Support Services to Integrated Environmental Management

• Councillor Nosisi Mdlulwa will move from Roads and Transport to Community Safety

• Councillor Annah Setswalo-Moja will move from Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation to Human Settlement and Rural Development

• Councillor David Letsie will move from Human Settlement and Rural Development to Infrastructure Services

• Councillor Barry Friedman will move from Local Economic Development to Roads and Transport

• Councillor Andy Mathibe will move from Integrated Environmental Management to Corporate Support Services

• Councillor Nomalizo Kufa will move from Community Safety to Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation

Councillor Farouk Bhayat will keep his finance portfolio and so will Councillor Emily Mathe who heads Social Upliftment and Health.
