Vehicle crashes through billboard

The cause of the accident is still unknown after a driver crashes through a billboard.

Residents were woken up by an extremely loud noise realising minutes later that a vehicle crashed through a billboard on the side of the road.

The driver of a vehicle crashed through a billboard on Voortrekker Road in the early hours of Saturday morning, 28 February.

It is believe the impact of the crash was heard blocks away and Community Policing Forum members of Sector 9 were immediately sent to the scene to assist.

The members found the vehicle on its roof while two eyewitnesses were trying to assist the driver who was pinned under his vehicle.

Netcare 911’s rescue unit made use of pneumatic lifting bags and specialist equipment to lift the vehicle up and to enable paramedics to remove the man from underneath the vehicle.

Upon assessment they found the man to be in a critical condition and after treating the man at the scene, they rushed him to hospital for the urgent medical care.
