Night run under the stars

The Krugersdorp High School Night Run was yet again another run-away success.

For many it was their final chance as friends to go all out – in a crazy way!

The annual Krugersdorp High School’s Night run saw participants in the hundreds participate either in the 5km or 10km race.

This was the second year that the race, which was started by Beatie Moorcroft 15 years ago, was the same route as that of the Khosa Running Club, which requires more uphill running.

Ethan Vetton gets pushed around in a wheelbarrow after he broke his leg weeks before the race. In the back is Kian Smith, Kgothatso Chapi and Kelvin Robinson.

And this year was no different to previous years where pupils came dressed as different characters in a theme format.

For some it was a race they were not planning to miss, even if it meant their friends will have to carry on an extra weight as in the case of Ethan in the wheelbarrow Vetton, who broke his leg weeks prior to the event.

For Liezel Hartdagen, a matric pupil, this race is the last year for them as a group to participate.

“It is an event on our social calendar of which we get really excited about.”

Even the weather decided to behave, which led to yet another successful event under the stars.

Several medals and prizes were given as soon as the runners reached the finish line.

For those who felt slightly hungry and thirsty after all the energy being drained during the run, they were able to buy some food and drinks from the various stalls.
