Dumpers beware says DA

Dumping is illegal and Public Safety will prosecute offenders.

DA ward councillor Richard Lees is concerned about the amount of illegal dumping in Rangeview Extension 4.

A once pristine area at the top of Rangeview has become a dumping ground not only for garden refuse but building waste and even domestic refuse.

Concerned residents have reported that the offenders become aggressive when approached and asked not to dump in this area.

After an investigation by Lees and the Sector 7 Community Policing Forum (CPF) it was found that the offenders not only are local residents but builders from neighbouring towns.

Dumping is illegal and Public Safety will prosecute offenders; but the support of the community is essential.

If you see anyone dumping illegally simply take a picture of the vehicle with the registration number clearly visible and send it to Public Safety or to Lees via email rival@telkomsa.net.

“I will follow up on every email received,” Lees said.

“Dumpers beware. We are watching you.”
