Young leader wins money for charity
Lead SA winner proceeds to the next round of the competition for her good work.
Karli Coetzee, head girl of Maragon Private Schools in Ruimsig was chosen as the winner of The Youth Leader for the Year 2015 for Gauteng for her contribution to the Mug and Tree organisation in Krugersdorp West.
The Lead SA Campaign selects a winner out of thousands of entries for every month.
This competition will run until next year July where 12 heroes of each month are then invited to the Primedia offices in Sandton and the youth leader of the year is then selected.
After winning the Gauteng title, Karli received a beautiful certificate, a hand painted life-size painting of the late Nelson Mandela and R12 000 for a charity of her choice.
The panel of judges include faces from the media industry and the function was attended by the chairperson of the Nelson Mandela Fund, representatives from the Dischem Foundation and radio commentator, Sam Cowen.
Karli has been invited to attend a function at the University of Johannesburg where an overall winner will be announced nationally. The winner will receive R100 000 for their charity.
”She is extremely grateful to have been able to assist her charity in this regard. She however sees this as something that any South African citizen should be doing,” Belinda Espag, Marketing Manager for Maragon, said.
Karli is grateful that through the publicity Mug and Tree can receive all the exposure and therefore the community can become more aware of the plight of these children and their situation.
