Alma Mater athletes break six records

Alma Mater Akademie held their name high at the SACSSA Regional games.

10 Alma Mater Akademie pupils took part in the Southern African Christian School’s Sports Association (SACSSA) Regionals.

They took home a total of 18 gold medals and broke six Gauteng Regional records at the event, which was held in Germiston in August.

Danielle van Wyk broke the 200m record with a time of 28,64 seconds. She also broke the javelin girls under 15 record with a distance of 39,87 metres.

Qailah Adams broke the high jump and 400m girls under 17 records with 1,55 metres and 1:05.95 minutes respectively.

Ryan Thodlana broke the 200m boys under 19 record with a time of 22,97 seconds.

Kelvin Gravett broke the high jump boys under 14 record by jumping 1,70 metres high.

The athletes are looking forward to the national athletics games in September.
