Colourful fun for charity

Fun and games as many join in on a colour run in aid of a local charity.

Over 100 participants assembled at the starting line, covered in colour powder and ready for the UniCollege Colour Run in aid of charity.

This was the second colour run this year hosted by UniCollege to the benefit of The Cradle of Hope, a local organisation for vulnerable women and children.

With 180 eager participants this year, UniCollege was able to donate R5 600 to The Cradle.

Runners warmed up before the race by stretching and releasing various bright colour powders. Everyone was covered in it before starting the 5km run.

The overall winner of the race and winner of the under 16 category was Rodney Robinson who finished in 17 minutes and 55 seconds.

Donovan Lindeque won the men’s category while C Genis won the under 16 girls category and Y Tanaino the women’s category.

Christene van Brakel whose mother founded The Cradle of Hope also took part in the fun run.

The winners each received a R250 cash price, while the other participants calmly finished the race while enjoying the good company, all for a good cause.

“It is very important for an established institution such as UniCollege to reach out to the community. This year we chose The Cradle because of the amazing work they do in the community especially for abused women and children. Thank you to everyone who supported this cause,” Natalie Franklin, marketing manager for UniCollege Krugersdorp said.
