Dancing his way to the top
Exceeding his own expectations as hard work and dedication pays off.
Young dancer Warrick Naude boasts with a handful of titles after competing at his first International Dance Organisation (IDO) championship.
The Maragon Grade 4 pupil started dancing with Mario Gomes at the age of seven in 2012.
Two years later Warrick competed at his first IDO World Hip Hop Championships which was hosted in Germany.
At the championships Warrick placed 12th in the under 11 Solo Male Section.
“The pressure was on this year to improve on this result and he practiced at least five hours a week in preparation for the big event where he competed in five different events. With hard work and determination Warrick reached the final round in four of the events, exceeding his own expectations,” Belinda Espag, Coordinator Marketing for the Maravest Schools said.
With his partner Mikayla Basson, he placed 20th out of 65 entrants for the Children’s Hip Hop Duos.
In the Children’s Solo Male Hip Hop, Warrick managed to place sixth out of 53 entrants. He also got a fifth place out of 15 crews with Kahos Crew in the Children’s Formation Crews section.
In the Children’s Solo Electric Boogie Warrick placed fifth out of 27 entrants and landed a second place out of 28 crews in the Lil Precision Crew Children’s Hip Hop Small Groups.
