The Young and Old Charity Run hosted by the Oberholzer Charter of the Roadhogs Motorcycle Club was a phenomenal success.
The 12-member motorcycle club, situated near Carletonville, hosted a breakfast run in support of a crèche and an old age home. Linda du Toit, a club member, spoke to the News and discussed why they wanted to give back.
“I visited the Jollige Jakkers crèche in Krugersdorp West and noticed they had a great need for a proper playground,” Linda said.

She and her team of organisers decided to hold a fundraising event. 164 people pitched up for breakfast. Numerous bikers and their family and friends came to support the worthy cause.
Apart from the funds raised, Linda also managed to get a few sponsors. She also hosted an auction and raise enough funds to purchase artificial grass for the playground at the crèche.
There was even enough funds to help pay for the laying of the grass.
The rest of the money will go towards the old age home in Carletonville.
“These are good people and it was a pleasure to help them,” Linda said.
