Matrics, are you ready for the big day?

Individual results will be available from midnight tonight.

Are you nervous about your matric results? Join the thousands of matriculants in Krugersdorp who most probably feel the same way.

Today (5 January), the Department of Basic Education minister Angie Motshekga will at 6pm release the national pass rate for eight of the nine provinces.

Then, at midnight tonight, you can view your results on the department’s website www.dbe.gov.za.

Tomorrow morning from 8am, you can get your National Senior Certificate at your school.

Pupils in Western Cape would have to wait longer than the rest of the country, and would be able to collect their results at schools from noon on January 6, and online from 2pm the same day.

But it is expected not to be all smiles. Matric exam quality assurer Umalusi has already warned that the national pass rate will be lower than the 75,8 percent for the class of 2014.

If you fear that your results may not be what you expect, there is a second chance, literally.

The Department of Basic Education has initiated a programme called Second Chance, department spokesperson Elihah Mhlanga siad.

“They need to know that, unlike previous years, this time we have a dedicated programme to make sure that before the end of the year you have your certificate,” said Mhlanga.

“We are going to support you.”

More details about the Second Chance programme will be provided on Thursday.

Times Live reported that a total of 674 232 full-time and 127 456 part-time matric candidates enrolled to write last year.

The News wishes all pupils in Krugersdorp the best of luck when receiving their results tomorrow.
