Two friends, initially having fun at a tavern, started a fight over money and ended up stabbing one another.
On 7 January the 23 and 28-year-old were both arrested by Tarlton police officers.
“It is alleged the two went out on a drinking spree at one of the taverns at Smokedown informal settlement, their night out turned out ugly between the two friends when an argument ensued,” police spokesperson, Constable Lucky Matome, said.
The argument then led to the two stabbing one another with sharp objects. It is alleged the argument started when the 28-year-old demanded money owed to him by the 23-year-old suspect.
Lieutenant Colonel Christina Tsoaedi, the Tarlton Police Station Commander, said she is concerned about peoples behaviour when they are intoxicated.
“Disorderly conduct will not be tolerated,” she said.
Both suspects sustained injuries on their upper bodies; they have since opened criminal cases against each other.
They are expected to appear before the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
