Police also back at schools

Police officers joined in on the big day with some safety talks.

It was a very big day, not just for this year’s Grade ones, but also for the police officers in Magaliesburg.

“School assemblies on the first day of school in the Magalies area were also attended by police officers. We gave the children a safety talk and informed them about the effects of crime,” police spokesperson, Constable Rebecca Phithi, said.

Phithi, who is also the Crime Prevention Coordinator, led the initiative to schools like Magaliesburg Secondary School, Bekker High School and Bekker Primary School.

“It was clear the pupils were ready to be back at school. They were dressed according to uniform. They really showed respect and discipline,” she said.

Like on 13 January, police will work alongside the schools throughout the year to help one another in the fight against crime and to keep the community’s children safe.
