Suspects demand hard cash and big weapons from elderly woman
Suspects tied-up an elderly woman and demanded hard cash and weapons while assaulting her.
An elderly woman is lucky to be alive after suspects overpowered and assaulted her in her Krugersdorp West home last week.
The woman was in her house at the time of the attack and was overpowered by two suspect who smacked her glasses from her face before stomping it to pieces.
The suspects then tied-up the 73-year-old woman demanding cash and weapons in her house in Windram Street at around 3.30pm on 5 February.
“We want big cash,” one of the suspects demanded when she explained to them that she only had R150 on her.
The suspects started to tie her up when she told them that she did not have a safe in her house nor any weapons.
“We want big weapons,” they told her as they kicked her in her ribs.
After the two suspects, one believed to be young and the other middle aged, fled, the elderly woman managed to free herself by chewing off the wire that was used to tie her hands. She also managed to free her feet.
She quickly made her way to the street where she saw a resident and cried for help.
The resident, who lives close by contacted the local Sector 5 Community Policing Forum (CPF) who reacted within minutes, followed by the police.
The suspects, who fled with odd bits and pieces, also took the woman’s wedding ring which they tried to cut off her finger.
After failing to get it off her finger with a knife, they used a bolt cutter before making a run for it.
