Local talent making soundwaves
KapFresh is showing his face all over the musical platform.
Krugersdorp have a local star in the making.
KapFresh is a Krugersdorp High School matriculant who went on to pursue the South African music industry by self-publishing his singles.
It started in December when he was awarded the Most Promising Act at the Streets Are Fed Up Awards. He was featured on CrazE’s New Kids on the Block for artists to watch out for in 2015/ 2016 and his mix-tape was named Most Anticipated from an unsigned artist. He was also chosen as brand ambassador for clothing brand Blur Clothing South Africa.
KapFresh’s singles have made waves among House and R&B (rhythm and blues), to name a few, fans.
His fourth single “Skangjellamona,” meaning not to look down on someone, saw Kap, as his friends call him, shooting his very first music video in Dan Pienaarville.
This year, KapFresh said, is the year he will be focusing on shooting videos and creating his voice on social media and radio.
“But through it all, I still get nervous,” he said.
KapFresh, a perfectionist, gets nervous when he releases a single, but said he can handle singing on stage.
“At school, I was always singing lyrics and I tend to remember lyrics well. So getting on stage is the easy part,” he said.
KapFresh will release his 17 track mix-tape this year.
For others aspiring to get where KapFresh is, he advises that you never stop working.
“I wish I could tell you that tomorrow your big break will come. But unfortunately all I can tell you is that if you don’t take your music seriously, no one will.”
