Suspected bomber arrested with explosives

Man arrested with explosives after an anonymous tip-off by the community.

A man suspected to be involved in cash-in-transit heists and ATM bombings was arrested with explosives in his possession.

The Krugersdorp Trio Task Team arrested the 31-year-old male on 9 February at approximately 3am at his residence at Slovoville in Kagiso.

“It is alleged the team received an anonymous tip-off from community members who said the suspect was seen with the explosives,” Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, said.

The team worked hard in the early hours of the morning which led to the successful arrest the suspect.

“They were successful thanks to community members who are our eyes and ears. The Cluster Commander of Krugersdorp Cluster, Major General Anna Mateise appreciates the good working partnership between the community and the police and expressed her wish that it will grow from strength to strength.”

The suspect will appear make an appearance in court later this week.
