
A suspect handed himself over after the body of a 20-year-old woman was discovered near a mine dump in Kagiso last week.
A police officer from the Kagiso SAPS received a complaint of murder and proceeded to the scene of the crime in Kagiso extension 8 on 21 March after noon.
“On arrival at the scene they found a half-naked body of a woman. Her face was bruised with blood stains and an open cut under the right eye. It is alleged the body was recovered by children who were playing next to the bush,” Kagiso Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said.
Three days later a 24-year-old man, the deceased’s ex-boyfriend handed himself over.
“He confessed to the murder of his ex-girlfriend.”
The suspect has since made a brief appearance in court facing a charge of murder. He has been remanded in custody and is yet to apply for a formal bail application.
