Suspects open fire on CPF
Attempted house robbers fled into Munsieville after opening fire on local CPF members.
Suspected house robbers fled into a nearby township after opening fire on patrollers of the local Community Policing Forum (CPF).
This morning (6 April) around 10am, patrollers of Sector 3’s CPF were called out to a house in Zebra Street in Rant-en-Dal after a vigilant neighbour noted a vehicle with suspicious looking occupants in one of the driveways.
It is believed the suspect had already opened the gate of the property when the patrollers arrived on the scene which quickly ensued into a car chase.
As the patrollers followed the grey VW Polo through the streets of the suburb, one of the suspects stuck his head out of the window of the vehicle.
The next moment the suspect opened fire on the patrollers, firing several shots as they raced in attempt to get away.
The patrollers lost the suspects as they disappeared into the busy streets of Munsieville.
There is currently a be on the lookout (Bolo) alert for the Polo hatchback with a registration number plate WJK 266 GP.
Sector 3’s chairperson, Piet Sparks, urges residents not to approach the vehicle as the occupants are armed and to rather report the whereabouts of the vehicle to local CPF or police.
Sparks can be reached on 082 901 3045 or contact the police on 10111.
