A 34-year-old woman was arrested after the body of a man had been discovered in a burnt-down shack in Tshepisong.
The arrest followed when police received an anonymous complaint of arson in Tshepisong West.
Police found two shacks on fire and noticed the burnt body of the man inside one of the shacks.
Mogale City Emergency Services were deployed to the scene but it was too late as paramedics certified the man dead on scene.
“While on the scene one witness informed police that the deceased’s girlfriend was the one who caused the fire. The witness further alleged that the couple had a serious argument a few hours earlier,” said Kagiso Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya.
A search was launched for the girlfriend and she was apprehended a few minutes later.
The suspect was detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of murder was registered.
She appeared briefly in court facing charges of arson and murder.
