A house robber was shot several times after he surprised the homeowner.
A house robber was shot several times after a homeowner interrupted his trespassing.
The 25-year-old male suspect was shot and wounded during a house robbery incident in Marabeth, Tarlton on Monday, 11 April.
The owner was asleep when his house alarm system was activated around 5am.
He then got up and asked his domestic worker’s boyfriend to help him to inspect the premises.
“The owner heard movements in one of the rooms in the house when he was confronted by an unknown male carrying a knife,” Tarlton Police spokesperson, Constable Lucky Matome said.
Several shots were fired wounding the suspect in his upper body.
Paramedics and police were called to the scene and the injured suspect was taken to the nearest hospital for medical attention, where he is currently under police guard.
Nothing was stolen during the incident however several bags were found already packed by the suspect.
The suspect’s accomplice allegedly fled the scene by foot.
Tarlton SAPS are appealing to the community to assist with information that can assist in the arrest of the second suspect.
“We are very concerned about the increase in house robberies and housebreaking cases reported in the area,” the Station Commander of Tarlton SAPS Lieutenant Colonel CP Tsoaedi said.
