Four arrested, linked to previous crimes
The four suspects will appear in court soon.
Four suspects, possibly connected to various crimes committed in Muldersdrift recently, have been arrested after a housebreaking last week Tuesday (12 April).
After the intrusion, police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya, community members, security companies and police were alerted and a search for the suspects commenced.
“All four the suspects, aged between 27 and 34, were arrested and stolen properties were found in their possession,” he said.
The four suspects will be linked with other housebreaking cases reported in the area and will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
On 5 April, the News reported that four armed men were on the loose after shooting at an elderly couple in Muldersdrift.
On Saturday night (2 April) the armed suspects forcefully entered the couple’s home and shot at them.
“The couple was sitting in their living room when, without saying a word, the suspects started shooting and tormenting them,” Ngwenya said.
The suspects fled the couple’s home on foot with numerous electrical appliances and cell phones.
The Muldersdrift Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Seabi, commended the partnership between the public, the security sector and the police for securing the arrest. He also thanked the neighbourhood watch in the Muldersdrift area for their vigilance.
“The crime occurred while the plot owners were not home but the arrests were affected none the less,” he said.
“Crime in this area won’t be tolerated.”
