A man was arrested on Friday (15 April) after allegedly committing fraud at a cellular services shop in Cradlestone Mall, police said.
The 52-year-old man provided false identification while trying to purchase a cell phone worth R17 000.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya, said the salesperson realised the suspect’s information was incorrect when his details were verified.
Constable Sibusiso Khoza arrested the man who will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court today (18 April).
The Muldersdrift Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Seabi, said that police are “striving to ensure that Cradlestone Mall becomes a crime-free area, free from fraudsters who are terrorising the shops.”
