KHS netball and tennis stars rise internationally
The school's first netball side took Ireland by storm, winning the St Andrews Festival. And now a tennis player is packing for the UK.
Krugersdorp High School (KHS) has much to be proud of.
The KHS netball girls showed prowess on the court during their tour to Ireland, where they won the St Andrews tournament. One of the school’s top tennis players is on her way to the United Kingdom.
Even though KHS’ winter programme has just started, this year’s netball girls already are a force to be reckoned with. The season kicked off with the Best of the West Netball and Girls’ Hockey Tournament. The first side used the event as a pre-season warm-up for the tour to Ireland at the end of March.
The Pink Ladies, as the first team is called, played at two festivals in Ireland, the St Stithians and St Andrews Festivals.

“The highlight of the trip to Ireland was that the 1st girls played the under 17 Northern Ireland team and beat them 62 to 27,” said the school’s Marketing Director, Lauren Jooste-Coetsee.
“Not only was the tour about the girls playing netball but also having the opportunity to experience the Irish culture. The girls barely stepped off the plane on Wednesday (23 March) before they were back on the netball court at the St Stithians Festival the next day,” she said.
The girls played seven games of which they won six and lost one to St Peters.
The team had two rest days and then went on to win the St Andrews tournament, once again only losing one game out of 14.
“This is the second year in a row that the Pink Ladies of Krugersdorp High School have won the tournament,” Lauren added.
